About Mr. McCaffrey
Of all the careers I could have chosen, teaching couldn’t have been a more perfect choice for me. I love going to work and inspiring students to dream big, equipping them, and sending them to change the world. If students leave my classroom with just mere academic knowledge, I have failed as an educator. I believe students were created with specific gifts and talents and it is my job to cause students to realize what they are and use them to make a difference.

Educational Background
Coming from a divorced family and a mother working minimum wage, the dream of going to college seemed hopeless. That is until I learned that good grades and a determination to succeed was all I needed to go to college. After graduating from Fontana High (FOHI!!!) in 2001, I started college at California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB). I began my studies as an Accounting major thinking I was going to stack bills and make a lot of money. Something happened to me during my freshman year and I realized that money was not going to make me happy. Rather, doing what I was passionate about and skilled in would give me a fulfilling life.
Therefore, I chose to study Mathematics because I was good at it and most importantly I wanted to inspire young people to find their element hidden within them and chase after those dreams. After earning a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics at CSUSB, I earned a Master’s in Education along with my single subject teaching credential at Azusa Pacific University (APU) while teaching my first year at Fontana High. I earned a second Master’s in Educational Leadership with an emphasis of educational technology and learning at APU. Sometime in the near future, I will earn a doctorate degree.
Professional Background
When I started college as a freshman at California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB), I landed my first job tutoring math students at Rialto High School. During my sophomore and junior year at CSUSB, I worked at Roadway Express as a dock worker moving freight. It was super laborious work but the pay was awesome. Finally, my senior year I became a substitute teacher for the Fontana Unified School District.
After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics, I was able to start my career as a teacher at Fontana High school. I have taught a total of six years at Fontana High School, Fontana Middle School, and Jurupa Hills High School. Classes I have consist of: CAHSEE Prep, Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, Trigonometry/Pre Calculus. As for the 2012-2013 school year, I will be teaching two new classes to me: Calculus and International Baccalaureate Math Standard Level.
